About the role

This role provides support to the training team through the preparation of training areas and the maintenance, manufacture and preparation of machines and equipment that allows for Lecturing Staff to deliver programs and services to students.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance, construction, modification and repair of equipment and training aids across a range of industry training areas.
  • Preparation of maintenance plans and schedules for equipment and training aids across a range of industry training areas.
  • Maintenace of portable trades equipment register.
  • Purchasing activities, in accordance with delegation authority, of materials and equipment used for education and training.
  • Other duties as directed, which may include relief for other roles within the employees skills and abilities.

To be successful, you will have the following…

  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Considerable experience and technical knowledge in a trade’s background including:

24 month fixed-term with possible further fixed term and/or permanent appointment

Develop the workforce of the future at Pundulmurra Campus (South Hedland) state-of-the art simulated nursing ward

Lecturing staff employed in 2024 are eligible to receive a Temporary Regional Incentive of $15,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at NRTAFE, with the remainder paid on the anniversary of start date. Staff must remain employed in the location for 12 months to be eligible to receive the second payment.

About the Position

The HoP is an integral position within the training management team and is responsible for coordinating the academic administration within a Training Manager’s team. The position reports to the Training Manager and leads the team by collaborating closely with the Training Coordinator, Principal Lecturer, Lecturers and the Administration teams.

HoP’s will fulfil 50% of their FTE completing academic administrative work as outlined above with the remaining 50% completing Lecturer duties as outlined in the Lecturer role statement.

The Head of Programs (Nursing) fulfills the role of Head of Discipline as per the ANMAC Enrolled Nurse Accreditation Standards 2017 Head of discipline—lead nursing academic responsible for the design and delivery of the program of study on behalf of the education provider. The Head of Programs (Nursing) is responsible for ensuring that the program is delivered as per the accreditation, responding to program monitoring and maintaining communication with ANMAC.

Lecturing duties in the Diploma of Nursing program including facilitating training in online environments and face to face training in our state-of-the art simulated nursing ward

This role undertakes clinical facilitation in a range of healthcare settings; the successful applicant is required to maintain the ability to meet all criteria required to undertake this activity. This position is will also engage in the development and facilitation of associated short courses and skill sets to meet current and emerging industry needs and will be required to undertake some travel within the region.

To be successful, you will have the following…

  • Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent)
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) with no conditions.
  • A relevant post graduate tertiary qualification as per the ANMAC Enrolled Nurse Accreditation Standards 2017
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Significant industry / vocational experience relevant to the core units of HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing
  • Ability to satisfy all criteria to undertake clinical facilitation in a range of healthcare settings.
  • Well-developed communication and organisational skills, including the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of information technology with the ability to communicate and facilitate learning in a digital environment.

It is preferred that applicants already possess a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or can demonstrate willingness or progression towards achieving it.

About the role
In this role you will be in charge of maintaining the appearance of gardens, grassed areas and horticultural teaching compound at the campus, student and staff accommodation and supports gardening operations at other nearby campuses. This includes maintaining garden beds, weeding, mowing grassed areas, maintaining reticulation and checking watering schedules facilitating the purchase of plants and gardening consumables and providing support to the local Facilities team to coordinate on site contractors.
